About the event

From 1979 to 1989, Tim McBride ran the waters of Southwest Florida and the Caribbean with a crew known locally as the Saltwater Cowboys. McBride called himself a “pot hauler.” His job was to meet incoming vessels at night and unload the marijuana they carried from South America and the Caribbean. He recalls handling as much as 81 tons in a single offload.
Join the Bonita Springs Historical Society for a History Talk with McBride, who still lives on the edge of the Everglades. In his own words, he’ll take us back to those nighttime runs and the people he worked alongside during a decade of smuggling off our coast.
