The Bonita Springs Historical Society is pleased to announce an important milestone in the preservation of the Historic McSwain Home Museum & Gardens.

After careful evaluation, consultation with preservation professionals, and thoughtful consideration of the home's long term future, the Board of Directors has approved plans to relocate the Historic McSwain Home to a new site within Bonita Springs. This decision reflects the Society's commitment to preserving one of the community's most significant historic landmarks while strengthening its role as a public museum and educational resource.

For more than a century, the Historic McSwain Home has stood as a lasting symbol of Bonita Springs' pioneer heritage. As the community around it has evolved, the Society has remained focused on its responsibility to ensure the home's long-term preservation and continued public accessibility.

The decision to relocate the Historic McSwain Home was made after extensive planning and careful consideration of its future. The new location will provide an environment that better supports preservation, education, accessibility, and visitor experience while protecting the historic integrity of the home for generations to come.

The Society is especially honored that the future home of the Historic McSwain Home Museum & Gardens will remain connected to the McSwain family through property owned by McSwain descendants. This meaningful continuity reflects the very purpose of the project: preserving the McSwain legacy while ensuring it remains accessible to the community for generations to come.

The relocation will be completed under the guidance of experienced preservation professionals and through the City's historic review process. Protecting the historic character and integrity of the McSwain Home remains the Society's highest priority throughout every stage of the project.
